The day

Everything happens at the hotel, so once you're up the hill you can stay put. Come whenever suits you from three o'clock.

   We'll borrow a few people for family photographs. Everyone else: the bar is open.

   Seated. Tell us about allergies on the form and the kitchen will handle it.

Getting there

Flights

Porto is the airport you want. It's about 105 km from the hotel, roughly an hour and a half by car. Lisbon is possible but adds three hours on the ground.

By car

The last stretch is a climb up a narrow road, so allow a little longer than the map suggests. Parking at the hotel is free.

By train

Porto to Peso da Régua runs along the river and is worth doing for its own sake. The station is 6 km from the hotel, so you'll need a taxi or a lift for the last bit. Tell us on the form and we'll arrange something.

Arriving the day before

We'd recommend it. It's a Friday wedding, the drive from Porto is long enough that you don't want to do it on the morning, and the valley is a good place to lose a day.

Where to stay

The hotel is small, so rooms there will go first. Book early or plan to stay down in the valley.

We've held rooms until [DATE]. Mention our names when you book. There are only a few, so please don't sit on it.

Peso da Régua — 8 km

The nearest town, on the river, with the train station and plenty of places to eat. Taxis run late.

Lamego — 13 km

Bigger, prettier, more choice. Twenty minutes by car.

Quintas in the valley

If you're making a few days of it, the wine estates rent rooms and houses. Some of them are the best part of the region.

What to wear

Cocktail. It will likely be warm and dry in late May, and the ceremony and drinks are outside on stone and grass, so flats or block heels will treat you better than stilettos. Bring a layer for after dark; the valley cools down.

Children

Very welcome. Tell us ages on the form so we can plan food and somewhere for them to sleep.

Gifts

Having you there is the thing. If you'd like to give something anyway, there'll be details nearer the time.

Photographs

Please keep phones down during the ceremony. We'd rather see faces than screens. Afterwards, take as many as you like.

Anything else

Ask us. We'd much rather answer a question than have you guess.

Alles findet im Hotel statt, ihr müsst also nicht hin und her fahren. Kommt, wann es euch passt, ab 15 Uhr.

   Wir schnappen uns ein paar von euch für Familienfotos. Für alle anderen: Die Bar ist offen.

   Am Tisch. Schreibt uns Allergien ins Formular, die Küche kümmert sich darum.

Anreise

Flüge

Ihr wollt nach Porto. Von dort sind es rund 105 km bis zum Hotel, mit dem Auto etwa eineinhalb Stunden. Lissabon geht auch, kostet euch aber drei Stunden mehr auf der Straße.

Mit dem Auto

Das letzte Stück führt eine schmale Straße den Berg hinauf, plant also etwas mehr Zeit ein, als die Karte anzeigt. Parken am Hotel ist kostenlos.

Mit dem Zug

Die Strecke Porto nach Peso da Régua fährt am Fluss entlang und lohnt sich für sich genommen. Vom Bahnhof sind es noch 6 km bis zum Hotel, ihr braucht also ein Taxi oder eine Mitfahrgelegenheit. Sagt uns im Formular Bescheid, dann organisieren wir etwas.

Einen Tag früher anreisen

Würden wir empfehlen. Wir heiraten an einem Freitag, die Fahrt von Porto ist lang genug, dass ihr sie nicht am selben Morgen machen wollt, und im Douro-Tal lässt sich ein Tag gut verbringen.

Übernachten

Das Hotel ist klein, die Zimmer dort sind schnell weg. Bucht früh oder plant unten im Tal.

Im Hotel

Wir haben Zimmer bis [DATUM] reserviert. Nennt bei der Buchung unsere Namen. Es sind nur wenige, also schiebt es bitte nicht auf.

Peso da Régua — 8 km

Die nächste Stadt, am Fluss, mit Bahnhof und genug Lokalen. Taxis fahren auch spät.

Lamego — 13 km

Größer, hübscher, mehr Auswahl. Zwanzig Minuten mit dem Auto.

Quintas im Tal

Wenn ihr ein paar Tage bleibt: Die Weingüter vermieten Zimmer und Häuser. Manche davon sind das Beste an der Gegend.

Was anziehen

Cocktail. Ende Mai ist es meistens warm und trocken, Trauung und Aperitif sind draußen auf Stein und Gras, mit flachen Schuhen oder Blockabsatz kommt ihr besser durch den Abend als mit Pfennigabsätzen. Nehmt etwas Wärmeres mit, nach Sonnenuntergang wird es im Tal kühl.

Kinder

Sehr gerne. Schreibt uns das Alter ins Formular, damit wir Essen und einen Schlafplatz planen können.

Geschenke

Dass ihr da seid, ist das Wichtigste. Wer trotzdem etwas schenken möchte: Details folgen näher am Termin.

Fotos

Bitte lasst während der Trauung die Handys unten. Wir möchten Gesichter sehen und keine Bildschirme. Danach fotografiert, so viel ihr wollt.

Como chegar

Voos

Para quem vem de fora, o aeroporto é o do Porto. Fica a cerca de 105 km do hotel, hora e meia de carro. Lisboa também dá, mas acrescenta três horas de estrada.

De carro

O último troço é uma subida por estrada estreita, por isso contem com um pouco mais de tempo do que o mapa indica. O estacionamento no hotel é gratuito.

De comboio

A linha do Porto até ao Peso da Régua segue o rio e vale a pena por si só. A estação fica a 6 km do hotel, por isso vão precisar de táxi ou boleia no último bocado. Digam-nos no formulário e nós tratamos disso.

Chegar na véspera

Aconselhamos. O casamento é a uma sexta-feira, a viagem desde o Porto é longa que chegue para não a quererem fazer nessa manhã, e o Douro é um bom sítio para perder um dia.

Onde ficar

O hotel é pequeno e os quartos vão esgotar depressa. Reservem cedo ou contem ficar no vale.

A localidade mais próxima, à beira-rio, com a estação e restaurantes que cheguem. Há táxis até tarde.

Maior, mais bonita, mais escolha. Vinte minutos de carro.

Quintas no vale

Se ficarem uns dias, as quintas alugam quartos e casas. Algumas são o melhor da região.

O que vestir

Cocktail. No final de maio costuma estar quente e seco, e a cerimónia e os aperitivos são ao ar livre, sobre pedra e relva, por isso rasos ou salto grosso vão tratar-vos melhor do que agulhas. Tragam algo mais quente para a noite, o vale arrefece.

Crianças

Muito bem-vindas. Digam-nos as idades no formulário para podermos planear a comida e um sítio para dormirem.

Prendas

Ter-vos lá connosco já é o que importa. Quem quiser dar alguma coisa, damos os detalhes mais perto da data.
